Focus on Bunbury & Busselton:
Hello & welcome from the Disability Team in the southwest.
My name is Danusia and I work from our Bunbury & Busselton offices. My move to the southwest occurred in November 2018 from the Northbridge office. It has been an interesting journey; there are differences between the city & the country. For me it has been a sense of community & connection which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
The participants in the southwest are rather initiative & are involved in several groups/activities. These involve; bowling (the Bunbury Bandits who are quite competitive), cooking classes, Morrissey’s, EPIC (held at the Busselton Yacht Club) for karaoke, music & movement & crafts, a disco (a few times a year at the Esplanade Hotel in Busselton), Horse Vision (in Vasse) & Horse tails (in Capel) & Boot scooting (at senior Citizens Busselton) as well as Acting Up (drama classes at the Arts Centre in Busselton). One of the participants was even invited on the stage to sing with the cast from Mamma Mia recently when they performed.
Relationships also occur with other services providers in the region. There are many that our participants are linked to. Such as; Enable, CamCan, St Jude’s, Valued Lives, SWAMS, ACTIV, just to name a few. The Disability Team & these services providers have developed a great connection to assist the participants the best we can.
