SHQ contraceptive implant theory webinar covers:
- Issues to cover during counselling about contraceptive implant use.
- Benefits, risks and contraindications to use of contraceptive implants .
- Insertion and removal techniques, including practice insertions and removals with simulation arms.
Nurses can enrol in this webinar if they have completed modules 6 and 7 of the Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive health (Nursing) or equivalent. Endorsed midwives do not require this prerequisite to enrol.
Once enrolled, training equipment including a postage paid return satchel will be posted to you. Attend the webinar. After the webinar or at a mutually agreed time, you will be supervised using the training equipment. If the supervisor finds your practice on the model satisfactory a statement of attendance will be issued.
To become a competent inserter after completion of the workshop, several insertions and removals should be performed under supervision by a competent inserter, ideally within the health professional’s own workplace.
