[COURSE FULL] IUD Training February 2020

It is expected that those who undertake insertions of IUDs in practice have excellent skills in:

helping patients to choose contraceptive methods
assessing whether patients are suitable to use IUDs
communication and pelvic examination

If you wish to undertake IUD training, but do not have the requisite skills, it is recommended to  complete training in these prior to undertaking clinical IUD training. Some may wish to do the Doctors Certificate course, or some sections of it.

For those with the necessary skills, the steps to take are outlined below.

FPAA Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health for Doctors – March 2020

This national certificate course covers the range of the sexual and reproductive health issues that are common in general practice. It is useful for GP Registrars, O&G trainees, and experienced general practitioners who wish to refresh their knowledge in the area. The theory component is run over a week, although participants can choose to attend individual days if they wish to. The clinical component is seven sessions of 3.5 hours each.
