PRIDE month is here and we’re so excited we could wee. But we won’t, because that would ruin our outfits. Over here at SHQ we’re all about inclusivity. We want to know what’s going down in your local community to help us celebrate all things sexual and gender diverse. We did some research, and here’s the goss: it’s PRIDE’s 25th anniversary and there’s never been so many events to celebrate! The theme this year is Silver City and what better way to show your support than coming to watch the Magenta crew dressed in their silvery best at the Pride Parade on November 21st at 8pm. But wait! There is SO. MUCH. MORE. Check out the PrideFEST website for all the deets on what’s going down.
Pride’s been rocking it since 1989 when members of the sexual and gender diverse community were being discriminated against in Parliament. While there’s still a ways to go on that front, we believe there’s strength in diversity, and you’re welcome at our service no matter how you identify. If you feel you would like to have a confidential, non-judgemental chat with someone our counsellors are, how do you say it…legit amazeballs. Click here to get more info on counselling.
Don’t forget it’s also Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th so click here: for more info on how you can participate.
Also, JUST IN: we’ve been updating our resources to make sure we’re using inclusive language, so tell us if you spot something that’s a bit iffy on our website! It’s important to us that everyone feels welcome at SRHWA, and we don’t want some dodgy lingo to put you off.
Don’t forget SHQ and Quarry Health Centre for under 25s are offering drop in STI clinics during November, so come along and get tested if you’ve had unprotected sex or it’s been awhile since your last test.
