Survey of Primary Care Clinicians in Western Australia 

This survey aims to gain a better understanding of the requirements and preferences amongst primary care clinicians in Western Australia for training in transgender and gender diverse health. The results of this survey will inform the development of the WA Primary Health Alliance training strategy in Gender Diversity and Transgender Health. Click here to complete the survey.

Launch of WA Report on National Survey of Australian Secondary School Students and Sexual Health

The WA-specific report of the 6th National Survey of Secondary Students and Sexual Health (2018) will be launched on 16 September by the Curtin University RSE Project at the Perth Convention Centre. Lead Researcher Associate Professor Christopher Fisher will present the WA results followed by a panel discussion.Tickets are $10 and free for those attending the ASHM Conference. Aboriginal Health Council of WA Birds and the BBVs Training

The Birds and the BBVs aims to increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of Aboriginal Health Workers, and other professionals who work with Aboriginal people, to yarn with clients and community members about STIs and BBV testing.

YEP Youth Sector Summit: Technosexual World – November 12th 2019

The YEP Project are hosting their second Youth Sector Summit around how technology, digital media and social media impacts the sexual health of young people. Abstracts for presentations and speakers are open until 14 August 2019. For more information check out the YEP Project website

Sexual health campaign survey for young Aboriginal people

On behalf of the WA Department of Health, Painted Dog Research is evaluating two Aboriginal-specific social marketing campaigns that focus on STIs and BBVs. A survey has been developed for young Aboriginal people aged 16-29. Respondents can go in the draw to win 1 of 10 $200 JB Hifi vouchers. Access the survey

Headspace Joondalup launch hQ Space: new drop-in service for LGBTIQA+ young people

hQ Space is a new drop-in space at headspace Joondalup where young LGBTIQA+ people aged 12–25 can feel free to be themselves. There is no pressure to say if you are queer or questioning, or how you identify. You also don’t need to be a current or previous headspace client to attend.
Location: headspace Joondalup – Suite G8, 126 Grand Boulevard, Joondalup
When: The first Saturday of every month, 1pm-3pm.

Equality Rights Alliance Young Women’s Advisory Group (YWAG) survey on sex education

Equality Rights Alliance YWAG want to know about the experiences of sex education of young women aged 16-21 in Australia. Data will be used to create a report which will be distributed across Australia. The survey is open to women, trans women or non-binary people. Contraceptive Implant Training for Doctors and Nurses – 2019

SHQ is pleased to offer theory training workshops for doctors and nurses to begin to become approved contraceptive implant inserters. IUD Training for Doctors and Nurses 2019 – October 1st 2019

SHQ offers IUD insertion training for doctors and nurses who want to upskill. The training is open to anyone who is registered with AHPRA as a medical practitioner or nurse. For more information and to apply, click here


FPAA Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health (Doctors) – November 11th – 15th 2019

This national certificate course covers sexual and reproductive health issues at a postgraduate level. The course focuses on primary care aspects of sexual and reproductive health, a core aspect of both general practice and specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology.For more information and to apply, click here
