Expressions of interest sought to join SHQ’s Aboriginal Education team

An exciting opportunity exists for an Aboriginal person to join SHQ’s Aboriginal Education team!

Would you like to be involved with the Mooditj program?

Do you have a strong commitment to empowering diverse Aboriginal young people?

Do you have an interest in relationship and sexual health education?

Then this just might be the position you’re looking for!

The role can be flexible to make the best use of the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Training will be provided. Hours, scope and level negotiated. Pay rates from approximately $60,000 to $85,000. This is a one year contract, with possibility of extension.

Ideally this person could work across SHQ’s Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal education programs.

Sound like you? Contact Rebecca Smith, Director of Information and Education, as soon as possible on 9227 6177 or send an email to her.

For more information about the Mooditj program and SHQ’s work in relationship and sexual health education with Aboriginal peoples, contact Rose Murray on 9227 6177 or send an email to her.

Acknowledgement of Country and Reconciliation Action Plan

In late November SHQ launched an Acknowledgement of Country declaration in our foyer, as well as celebrated the endorsement of our Reconciliation Action Plan by Reconciliation Australia.

This is the culmination of many hours of hard work by our Aboriginal Advisory Committee, and our Reconciliation Working Group. Many thanks to everyone who came along to celebrate, and to those who have supported us along the way.

We now have even greater opportunity to educate and engage with those who utilise our services, and to further demonstrate SHQ’s commitment to the reconciliation process.

SHQ Publications Committee consumer representative wanted

At SHQ we are committed to hearing the views of consumers to help us shape and improve our services. One important service is the provision of accurate and up-to-date sexual health information to the wider community, along with the development of suitable resources.

We are seeking expressions of interest from consumers to be part of our Publications Committee in 2019. This person/s would be responsible for providing feedback regarding new and existing SHQ publications to ensure they meet the needs of community members.

We are seeking representation from a diverse range of groups, in particular young people.

As a member of the Publications Committee, you would be expected to attend 2-3 meetings each year (dates and times negotiable), and provide feedback via email (approximately bi-monthly). A $50 voucher will be provided for attendance at meetings, as well as refreshments.

This is a great opportunity for interested people to respectfully share their ideas and views about SHQ’s publications, as well as work closely with fantastic SHQ staff!

If this sounds like you, please send a short email outlining why you think you would be a suitable representative.

For more information please contact Rebecca Smith on 9227 6177, or read our consumer engagement framework here
