SHQ security upgrade thanks to Lotterywest

SHQ recently implemented an extensive security upgrade thanks to a $53,000 Lotterywest grant. The grant will allow the organisation to improve the safety of all staff, clients and visitors to the building.

Chief Executive Officer Debra Barnes said the funds would be utilised to upgrade several outdated systems, and install new and improved ones.

“SHQ welcomes more than 10,000 people through our doors each year, including clinic and counselling clients, and workshop and course participants,” she said. “Their safety, along with the safety of our staff, is of utmost importance to us.”

“Clients have the right to feel safe and comfortable when accessing a health service, particularly one that provides sensitive sexual health services.”

“The grant has allowed us to implement a new swipe card security system, providing staff-only access to non-public areas of the building.”

“We have also installed a new building alarm and garage security, along with a video intercom and security cameras for use after hours.”

“We are extremely grateful to Lotterywest for providing this grant to allow us to better support the safety of our valued staff and clients.”
