Unintended Pregnancy

For some people, decisions around pregnancy are relatively simple. For others, the decision-making process is more complex. SHQ offers non-judgemental support, including free counselling and bulk billed or no cost clinical consults, covering all unintended pregnancy options. Phone counselling is also available.

If you need support around an unintended pregnancy and are considering a termination, there is a limited time in which to make this decision.  We make unintended pregnancy appointments a priority in the clinic and counselling services and endeavour to offer you an appointment as soon as possible.

Your counsellor will help you to explore all of the options available to you, and to explore the factors that are influencing your decision. Counselling is non-judgemental and non-directive. The goal of the counselling is to support you to make a decision which best suits your individual situation. Counselling sessions for unintended pregnancy and post termination issues are free of charge.

Our clinicians are also available for non-judgemental and non-directive consultations about unintended pregnancy. Unintended pregnancy clinic consultations are bulk billed or incur no charge.

If you decide to have an abortion you will need to obtain a referral from a doctor who will discuss the risks of continuing pregnancy and risks of an abortion. This can be done with a doctor at SHQ or with your GP. SHQ now also offers medical abortion services.
