Announcement of SHQ’s new Chief Executive Officer

From the Chair of the Board

I am pleased to announce that the SHQ Board has appointed Alison Kelly as our new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 15 June 2026.

Alison is an experienced and values driven leader with more than 30 years’ experience across health, disability, mental health and community services in metropolitan, rural and remote settings. Alison has most recently served as CEO of Therapy Focus and previously held the CEO role at Directions Disability Support Services, leading organisations through complex operating environments while maintaining strong governance, financial sustainability and service quality.

Throughout her career, Alison has worked closely with Boards, governments and partners to strengthen organisational impact, advocate for communities, and deliver high-quality, person-centred services. The Board is confident that Alison’s leadership, integrity and commitment to equity and access align strongly with SHQ’s purpose and strategic direction.

Alison shared the following message on her appointment:

“I’m truly honoured to be stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer at SHQ. With more than 50 years of clinical excellence, integrity and values driven care, SHQ is an organisation shaped by the passion and commitment of its people. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and our partners, building on the trusted relationships established by Debra and continuing to nurture the values-based culture that defines SHQ. In a complex and changing health environment, I’m excited to build on these strong foundations and continue supporting the sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing of communities across Western Australia”.

The Board would also like to acknowledge and thank Debra Barnes for their outstanding leadership and contribution to SHQ. Her commitment and dedication have been instrumental in advancing SHQ’s work, and we wish her every success in her next chapter.

We look forward to introducing Alison to our stakeholders over coming months and continuing to work together in support of SHQ’s mission.

Kind regards
Maria Quaggan
