Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication taken by people who don’t have HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) to reduce their risk of getting HIV.

PrEP has been listed on the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) since April 2018.
