AUSLARC provides scholarships for Implanon and IUD training to reduce financial and geographic barriers to long acting reversible contraception (LARC) training.

About AUSLARC
AUSLARC is led by Sexual and Reproductive Australia (SRHA) in partnership with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). This initiative received grant funding from the Australian Government. It includes a national evaluation framework to support long-term impact and sustainability.
Who is eligible?
Health professionals eligible for fully funded training include:
- General Practitioners
- Nurse Practitioners
- Registered Nurses
- Endorsed Midwives
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners
What’s included?
Implanon and IUD training delivered by SRHA Sexual and Reproductive Health Organisations in every state and territory.
Travel reimbursement for eligible participants travelling more than 100 km to attend training
Streamlined online access via a new centralised portal for registration, scholarships and reimbursement claims
Why it matters
Australia’s LARC uptake is lower than many other developed countries.
AUSLARC aims to:
- Expand access to contraceptive choice, especially outside major cities
- Build workforce capacity in long acting reversible contraception
- Reduce unintended pregnancies
- Support health equity through targeted investment in rural and regional areas
