Sex Work 101: Awareness Training for Professionals and Services

Join the Magenta Sex Worker Support Project for a comprehensive introduction to sex work, designed to promote awareness and understanding of sex worker issues and needs.

 

This evidence-based training, delivered by educators with lived experience of sex work, will equip attendees with the relevant knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to effectively support sex worker clients and community.

 

With a specific focus on the WA sex industry, this 90 minute session will cover:

  • What the Magenta Sex Worker Support Project is and what services it offers;
  • Sex work legal models and current legislation in WA;
  • Types of sex work;
  • Common challenges experienced by sex workers;
  • Recurring myths about sex workers and the sex industry, and what the research actually tells us about their experiences;
  • Barriers to accessing services and care;
  • How to provide respectful, inclusive services to sex workers;
  • Tools and theories for working with sex workers to promote safety;
  • Opportunity for questions.

This session is appropriate for any professional or service looking to develop greater awareness, understanding, and respect for those working in the sex industry. It may be particularly beneficial within services like:
