Dates Offered
This is a two day course designed for allied health professionals, teachers and other people who support people with disability, to better provide inclusive sexuality and wellbeing support to people with disability.
The training covers:
Day 1
- Self-reflection, exploring attitudes and values
- Reviewing key terminology for sexuality and disability
- Understanding the models of disability
- Exploring common myths and their impact on people with disability and the people around them
- Understanding the intersection of sexuality and disability
- Reviewing Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
- Exploring common challenges and teaching strategies
- Understanding supported decision making and how to advocate for people with disability to make their own decisions
Day 2
- Exploring sexuality and relationships resources and accessibility
- Supporting diversity in gender, bodies, and sexuality
- Exploring sexual behaviour/expression; responding and supporting
- Teaching: Consent, Porn and Sexting, and Healthy and unhealthy relationships
- Improving confidence when teaching about sexuality and relationships
- Protective interrupting and responding
