Gender Affirmative Care and Disability in Albany – Online Focus Group Expressions of Interest

The Starship Project is a pilot initiative designed to strengthen affirming healthcare pathways for trans, gender diverse and nonbinary people with disability living in regional Western Australia.

Operating from Albany, the project focuses on building the skills, confidence, and capability of local healthcare workers to provide inclusive, gender-affirming care to clients with disability and neurodivergence—groups that often experience compounded barriers in accessing safe, appropriate services.

This project is our next step following achievements such as our EmbraceU project, our BASE project, and our Gender Affirmation Clinic, and leverages our long-standing expertise in supporting people with disability and complex care needs.

Through training, resource development, and community collaboration, the project aims to improve the quality of healthcare available to trans, gender diverse and nonbinary people in regional WA.

Community insight and peer engagement is an essential part of this project– we are seeking community members (aged 18 and over) to participate in four online focus group meetings across 2026 to shape this project. Participants will be remunerated $50 for attendance.

Interested? Complete the form below to register your interest, and our team will be in touch.
