Update from the SHQ Disability Team
Upcoming events, important dates and a spotlight on the Disability Team in the southwest!
Welcome
SHQ (Disability) had the pleasure of recently attending two expos.
Firstly, it was great to be invited by Clarkson Community High School to their Health Expo. SHQ joined other health organisations to share information around health, wellbeing, and sexual health to all students from years 7 to 12. We had a blast meeting so many students and answering numerous questions around sexual health. It was a delight to see so many young people engaged and motivated to learn about sexual health and services.
Every year we love attending the Abilities Expo which is held annually at the Crown Ballroom, for people of all ages with disability, their families and carers. The event is one not to be missed, with many people attending to meet service providers, and get to know more about activities and supports available in WA. During the day the SHQ Disability Crew got to meet so many people, ranging from teachers, students, families, carers, other service providers and more; it’s also a great opportunity to catch up with past and present participants of our service. But meeting people is not the only fun, it is also a day for many young people and adults with disability to come together and showcase their many talents. We had the pleasure of seeing dancing, singing, musical instruments being played and so much more, we even joined in the fun doing the Macarena and Agadoo dance! Do yourself a favour and put the Abilities Expo in your calendar for next year, you won’t be disappointed, and did we mention there are lots of free goodies and merch!
We love attending expos so contact us if you have an event and would like us there.
