Mooditj Leader Training

Dates Offered

1st - 4th Jun 20219:00 am to 4:30 pm

SHQ’s iconic Mooditj program for young Aboriginal people has been extended!

Mooditj is now a comprehensive 3-part resilience, relationships and sexual health education program designed for young Aboriginal people aged 10-14 years. It helps young Aboriginal people be strong in themselves and make positive and informed choices about their wellbeing and relationships. Please see the Mooditj program outline for more information about Mooditj.

People who want to use the Mooditj program need to attend Mooditj Leader Training. Participants all receive the detailed manuals for each of the 3 parts of the Mooditj program.

Mooditj Leader Training (MLT) is a 4-day hands on course. Aboriginal Educators take a lead role in delivering this culturally safe and fun course.

Experienced Mooditj Leaders who are currently delivering the original Mooditj program can apply to attend the 2-day MLT Bridging Course.

See the MLT course structure tab for more information about Mooditj Leader Training and the MLT Bridging Course.

Participants should walk away with:

  • Knowledge, skills and confidence to run Mooditj programs
  • Practical ways to talk about sensitive issues with young people.

Who would benefit from this course:

Mooditj Leader Training is designed for Aboriginal community members or people who work with young Aboriginal people in their community. Non-Aboriginal people are expected to partner with an Aboriginal person to run Mooditj. Training together is recommended.

If you and your organisation can commit to run a Mooditj group and provide feedback to SHQ, you may be eligible for a discounted registration fee.
