Telehealth extension welcomed to ensure accessible sexual health care for all

Sexual Health Quarters welcomes the extension to Medicare-funded telehealth services announced in the new Federal Budget.

“We first introduced telehealth appointments for sexual and reproductive health care, including unintended pregnancy counselling, during the initial phases of COVID-19 last year,” said Chief Executive Offer, Debra Barnes.

“Telehealth services, which complement our face-to-face services, were embraced by our clients and staff, and we are pleased this valuable option will continue to be available to those in need.”

“The availability of telehealth appointments is especially important to those living in regional and remote areas, and those who are vulnerable and/or experiencing hardship,” she said.

“Everyone should have access to quality sexual and reproductive health services, and we thank the Federal Government for continuing to subsidise this vital model of care.”
