Working with LGBTIQA+ people
All people deserve access to safe and accurate sexual health support and information. SHQ strives to create an inclusive environment for clients, workers and visitors that come to SHQ. All staff receive training on LGBTIQA+ diversity and inclusion to ensure our staff have the knowledge and skills to support the range of people who engage with us.
Our internal and external LGBTIQA+ reference groups provide us with recommendations and guidance on SHQ’s resources, policy and practice to ensure we are up-to-date with the needs of the community.

Projects and resources
EmbraceU is a collaboration between SHQ and WAAC, sponsored by the Western Australian Department of Health. The project aims to improve outcomes for transgender, gender diverse and non-binary people in relation to sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs).
Rainbow Tick Accreditation
SHQ is proud to hold Rainbow Tick Accreditation, a national quality framework that recognises organisations committed to providing safe, inclusive, and affirming services for LGBTIQA+ communities. This accreditation demonstrates that our systems, policies, and culture align with national standards for LGBTIQA+ inclusive practice.
Rainbow Tick accreditation covers key areas such as inclusive governance, culturally safe service delivery, workforce capability, and meaningful engagement with LGBTIQA+ communities. It reinforces our commitment to providing a welcoming environment for all clients and staff. Most importantly, it means that people of diverse sexualities and gender identities can feel confident that SHQ is a place where they will be respected, supported, and affirmed.
